English Bicycles: Project Right Singlespeed Road

As far as collaboration bikes are concerned, anything involving Geoff Mcfetridge is going to turn out stunning. This newest Beautiful Bicycle comes from English Cycles:

“Last year, Jason at Fairwheel bikes in Tucson approached me about building a frame for a customer who wanted a singlespeed road bike to have custom paint by artist Geoff McFetridge. Seemed simple enough. But then Jason had an idea about doing a single-sided frame…. Generally always being up for a design challenge, I said sure, and set about figuring out how I would do it.”

Jeremy Fish for NYC Velo

This is on my list of “must haves” while I’m in NYC. I love it when artists do graphics that aren’t their usual M.O. I wouldn’t have known this was Jeremy Fish unless you told me! Swoop them up at NYC Velo.

Мишка and Affinity 5 Year Anniversary Frame by Lamour Supreme

Since leaving NYC, it’s great to see people and brands that I brought together still pushing rad shit. I introduced Lamour Supreme to Mishka many years ago and that led to talks of bikes and art. Since Affinity was my LBS, I always sent the dudes to Jason for their cycling needs. Now, what? Like 5 years later, Mishka, Affinity and Lamour Supreme put this sick as fuck Kissena track bike out. Amazing.

Mitchell Silva’s Globars

Mitchell Silva’s Globars

Mitchell Silva’s ID project entitled Glowbars takes some relatively off the shelf technology and adds a little pizazz to it. LEDs are a simple and energy efficient light source and Mitchell has made a prototype handlebar that incorporates them into the front of the drops. I’d love to see how Deep Local would interpret this. Personally, out of all the stupid safety shit we see coming out, it’s nice to see someone actually do something with a real world application. I mean, randonneurs have been doing the same thing for some time, although, not as tech-savvy.

Defgrip: Bohie Palecek Wallpaper

Defgrip mentioned something last month about seeking artists to do wallpaper for their site, prompting Australia’s  Bohie Palecek to hop on it. This is sick. So much alchemist symbolism in this one. Also, the Aussies love their “hoop snakes”, which we call Ouroboros. Pick up higher-res versions here, for FREE at Defgrip.

Screen Printing at Signal Cycles

I had the chance to finally meet Matt Cardinal and Nate Meschke, co-owners of the Portland-based Signal Cycles. In their carefully-curated booth, they were selling these handmade posters. Each sheet was stained with Stumptown coffee before they were printed. How Portland is that? Even if you can’t own a Signal Cycles, you can probably afford one of these nice prints. Head to Signal Cycles for more information.

Jake Ricker’s Born To Die Photo Book

Jake Ricker’s photography has been featured here countless times on the site over the years. His 35mm snapshots have finally made their way to a printed publication:

“I am very proud to announce my first photography book is now for sale. A wider and slim version of the same 70 page book is available. Hard cover and soft cover option in both sizes. Look for the preview button on Blurb to see 30 pages of the book. If you would like a copy but don’t want to go through Blurb I can take preorder payments and place a mass order myself. I will ship them out as soon as I get them in.

Just email me at: jakericker@gmail.com

Here’s the link to the Blurb page. For more examples of his work, see his Flickr and Tumblr.
