Zebra-Striped MKE Bruiser

When I said “Yes, Milwaukee can really do any kinda paint you want” some people took it to heart. Case in point… Insanity. Look at that fork! So nuts! I wanna see a Gravedigger Bruiser!

Man, that pearl clear coat is pretty too. Check out some more shots at MKE’s Flickr.

Alpe d’Huez Brooks Saddle

Alpe d’Huez Brooks Saddle

I don’t usually get into the whole custom saddle thing. Mostly because I tend to ruin saddles all the time and why spend a lot of money on some “limited” art piece only to trash it in a few months?

I will however say the design intent behind these custom Brooks saddles is really nice. If you watch the Tour every year, then you’ve obviously heard of The Alpe d’Huez. It’s been a stage finish of the tour since ’76. Back when the tour was ridden on steel bikes and no one even knew what carbon fiber was, the racers were all riding Brooks saddles.

Now that time has passed, but Brooks commemorates those racers by collaborating with a wallpaper artist. Dan Funderburgh is an artist from Brooklyn and he used the topography map from the Alpe d’Huez for the design. Dan loves bicycles and I’m sure he was stoked to have Brooks approach him.

Tom Sachs Tequila Bike for Lance

Tom Sachs Tequila Bike for Lance

I know these bikes have been posted all over the net, but Tom Sachs‘ bike is the winner in my book. It had a case of Tequila on a Cetma rack and a spout to pour shots. The Cutters and yes, Lance all got wasted at the private party in Paris. Eventually, they all got kicked out of the party.

The bike looks good and all, but the zinger is in the details. Mr. Sachs took a dremmel and scraped away all the “SRAM” labels and wrote “Campagnolo” beside it. Pretty funny.

French: Cursed Scrolls Recap

Seeing one of your favorite artist’s work in person is always a great experience. I’ve been a huge fan of French for a while now and his exhibition is up at Mishka’s 350 Broadway space for the next 6 weeks! If you can’t afford a print, you could always pick up one of the exhibition t-shirts from their online store!

The opening party was a good time and I’ve got a few shots up on Flickr. Mishka also has a recap up on the Bloglin, so head over there and check it!

MWM for OPEN

Check out what MWM just submitted to Open for their installation entitled Momentum at the Chorus Gallery!

MWM is on a roll at the moment – Wired loves his work and did you see his custom Mini Cooper? He continues to push his graphic look onto new forms. Take his upcoming show at Open’s Chorus Gallery, “Momentum,” which explores his graphics against a series of Traitor track bicycle frames. “In part with Open and Traitor Cycles, Matt will be presenting a series of five hand-painted frames, a cycling cap and some other soft goods. In conjunction with the frames, Matt will be hanging some of his signature canvas work.” We’re fans.

Cursed Scrolls

This Thursday between 7-10pm at 350 Broadway in Brooklyn, Mishka will be hosting a gallery event entitled Cursed Scrolls. They will be showcasing French‘s work. I’ve been a fan of French for some time now and when I found out he was doing some shirts for Mishka, I was pumped. I can’t wait to catch this.

This shirt will also be available at the event and I’m sure it’ll sell out quickly.

See ya there!

Squarebuilt Process

Little Andrew Temkin has been interning for Lance at Squarebuilt for a few weeks now. Great experience for a young kid to get I’m sure. He’s got a ton of pictures up on his Flickr of Lance working on Bad Heather’s (sorry Heather, I had to) new frame.

Great shots! I’ll post the finished product when it’s done!
