I also wanna thank everyone who’s ever told me I look like a Viking, because that was the inspiration. Big ups guys! Expect some more related news to come shortly!

Hand-off 540 Cab
Ed Glazar shot this sequence back at the Bicycle Fetish Day. Last Fall I landed one of these and have been dialing it in since. It was hard for me not to post videos or pics of it until after Bootleg 3 came out, but this is a pretty good image sequence. Click on the image for a higher-res image. You can also catch more of Ed’s work in this week’s Joyride Art Show for the BFF.
If you wanna see a video, you’ll have to get BLS3!

Duke Riley :: Artist + Patriot
Speaking of sea beasties, I had my last session with Duke Riley at East River Tattoo last night. He finished my behemoth and it looks phenomenal. There really isn’t a better artist for this job. I think it was this piece that got me excited to work with him.
Growing up on the coast of NC and surfing the OBX and hurricane swells, you have to have heard of the sandbars littering the coast referred to as the ‘Graveyard of the Atlantic’. These sandbars used to wreck ships and still to this day, can be a treacherous area to navigate. Sailors used to tell tall tales of giant beasts that devoured ships whole and killed the crew.
Well, this is inspired from such a beast. I found an old sailing chart from the 15th century and used that as a precedent. Duke’s handy-work did the rest!
Check out more pics here!

High Line is Open in NYC
After months of working on this urban-renewal project, the City of NYC has opened High Line Park to the public. Really amazing use of the old elevated subway line. It seems like a long long time ago that Diller Scofidio + Renfro won the design competition. But it’s finally open!
If you’re unfamiliar with the project, head over to theHighline.org site. Attached are a few details I really love and one of the winning design renderings.

Super Ted in 16mm Video
14 Bike Co. from ODGE WONG on Vimeo.
Back in March I posted a picture from a 16mm video shoot with Super Ted. If you recall, it was a nasty wall ride. I know I was looking forward to the video and now here it is, almost 4 months later. Seems as though the video is promoting the new Shop 14!
Really dig it though, very different from the run-of-the-mill web edits. Now go scramble for some 16mm cameras kids, you know you want to!

This City Can’t Swallow Me
Matt Lingo is a photographer living and working in LA. He’s spent a lot of time documenting the local fixed gear scene in San Diego and has just compiled and finished a book entitled This City Can’t Swallow Me.
Here’s his description of the project:
“A fixed gear bicycle is a bike with a cog that doesn’t have a freewheel mechanism meaning as long as the back wheel is moving, the pedals are moving. Although traditionally used strictly on a velodrome track, more and more riders are choosing these brakeless bikes for use on the road. They have a unique style of riding through traffic that I’ve tried to capture in this body of work.”
Head over and check out some of his shots here! and keep watch on his blog here.
