Bad lines, good times. Today, Ty took Sean and me up this rain canyon in the Angeles Forest. After Ty rode the entire thing with ease, it was my turn – Sean opted out – so he stood back and watched me have at it.
This one of those moments where you say “that’s a bad place to plant my front wheel”, as your wheel slides out and you go over the bars.

I was stoked to see Rapha do a video about the struggles found with fighting cancer and how riding can help.
For the past two years, a few guys from Beat the Clock Cycling have taken to the open roads the morning after Thanksgiving to escape Turkey-snacking and Black Friday madness. This time of year is when we get in our camping trips. It’s not 100º out and the only worrisome factors are the sudden cold fronts that blow in and yeah, the horrible headwinds that make trekking southbound unbearable.
Still, knowing we might face rain and 30+ mph headwinds, a few of us loaded up our TT bikes (tent time bikes) and glanced over Nick’s route through Texas Hill Country. On the agenda: Pedernales State Park and Guadalupe River State Park, the former of which, none of us had ever been to.
This famous climb has seen many a great moments in cycling, including the ’88 Giro when photos of a frozen Andy Hampsten circulated the globe. The Col Collective takes on Passo Gavia for their latest video…

Santa Cruz to Big Basin Overnighter

I agreed to this trip before I knew where we were going or what we were doing. I recently moved to Santa Cruz from the east coast and take any chance I get to explore the area with friends. I’m primarily a BMX rider / commuter who does the occasional tour, as is my friend Mike who invited me on the trip. Our friend Chris, on the other hand, rides trails every morning and gets a kick out climbing a long steep hill. Finding out on Friday night that we were about to climb 6000 plus feet was a bit painful sounding, but we were up for the adventure.
Man, one of these days I’m gonna make it out to the Chris King Gourmet Century. The guys just posted photos from the recent Sonoma County event on the Chris King blog. Head over to see what the Buzz is about.

I can’t begin to fathom weather like this, as it’s still 90 degrees here in Austin, but then again, we don’t have giants like Mt. Baker in our backyard and we’re pretty damn far south. Photos like these, taken just this weekend, serve as reminders of how truly powerful mother nature is.
Andy and Kelly decided to try to make it as far up Highway 542 as they could, not realizing it’d be literally under feet of snow. Even that couldn’t keep them from the Mountains of Madness…

When Jeremy Dunn called me and said Rapha was planning to hold a Gentlemen’s Race in Boulder, I was, plainly, stoked. I’ve always followed the coverage of the other races and hoped we’d have the chance to share our characters and terrain here in Boulder with everyone, too.

I woke up on day four in Bend, Oregon at 6am, in what is likely the shittiest motel the (otherwise quite nice) city has to offer. Next door I could hear the muffled sounds of what seemed like an escalating argument over who stole whose bag of weed. Rather than stick around for the thrilling conclusion to this one, I quickly packed up and headed straight to Smith Rock State Park just a few miles north.
Bokanev and friends made a short video inspired by fall and fog in the Seattle area…
These two are one of the raddest couples I know. Stoked to see this video finally coming out. Thanks to Charge Bikes for sharing.
