It’s almost the weekend and I shouldn’t even have to tell you to get out and ride. I haven’t shown any of my film photos from China but I can let these two slip through. It’s Jeff, MMC and Tyler from Factory 5 ripping out of the bamboo forest…

Because of a huge scheduling snafu on my part, I couldn’t make it to the Almanzo 100 or the Royal 162 this year. People are saying that it was a brutal ride and Craig’s photos are striking proof. Over 100 miles and around 7,000′ on gravel is no joke and the Royal 162 looked like a brute as well.

I love riding in California and today was my first time riding in Golden Gate Park. I crashed with Chas last night and this morning, we headed out to Trouble coffee for some of their excellent coffee and toast. There’s nothing like the #lightbro in early SF mornings.

So as you can tell, there hasn’t been much coverage from the ATOC. Instead of following the race each day, we’ve been riding in the cities that are hosting the race. Today, we woke up and hit Gibraltar. Or rather, Gibraltar hit us. It was amazing and there will be more details once my film gets developed. For now, this iPhone photo looks mad decent.

The Mountains of Madness…

I’m in Los Angeles today, en route for Santa Barbara and the ATOC tomorrow but before leaving town, I had to do a cross ride with Kyle. Some ups, just as many downs and a few spills made for a great ride. While my film sits in its canister, awaiting being developed, check out these two photos from Kyle’s Instagram. I forget how beautiful Los Angeles is, especially this time of year in the mountains. Nature is so metal.

It’s almost the weekend and while most of you don’t have to worry about snow for the next few months, there are plenty of people who do. Brrrrrr… Here’s the latest from the Rapha Continental:

“The UK Continental’s first journey of 2013 took our riders to Wales to investigate the route of the Bryan Chapman Memorial, a 600km audax and uniquely British type of endurance ride. The event is named after the late Bryan Chapman, an intrepid long-distance cyclist who often rode across Wales and back just to visit his mechanic.”

Seriously. Wow. What a fucking rad story.

I have no idea what’s going on here but if it gets the Golden Saddle Seal of Approval, I’m in. Still though, I played Thorr’s Hammer in lieu of the 4×4 electro and it changed the mood considerably.

Cloud Burst is my favorite ride in Los Angeles and last weekend, the Mudfoot and Golden Saddle Cyclery crew led a group ride up to and over the crest.

There were many moments during my recent ride in Australia where I came to a skidding stop, hand already in my backpack, pulling out my camera but this is by far one of the my favorites.
